The Unihertz Jelly Star is a 3-inch smartphone with the Android 13 operating system. With 8 GB of RAM and a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, it gives strong performance. This phone supports the Google Play Store, which means you can run all Android applications. Users comparing compact Android phones with newer models such as Google Pixel 9a or Nothing Phone 3a Pro 5G may find its small form factor especially interesting.

In this Unihertz Jelly Star review, you will know about its cameras, specs, performance, display, price, and whether it is worth buying in 2026.

Top highlights of the Unihertz Jelly Star smartphone:

  • MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.
  • 2,000 mAh battery with around 90 minutes of charging time.
  • 3-inch LCD screen with a maximum screen resolution of 480 x 854 pixels.
  • A transparent back panel with LED lights makes it more attractive.

Our Hands-On Take

We bought the Jelly Star phone as a secondary device to use an official SIM card in it. After using it for around one week, we realized that typing is very difficult, as thumbs usually go on the wrong key. It is not a good option for scrolling social media due to just a 3-inch screen. However, we used navigation, made UPI payments, and read WhatsApp messages without any interruptions. But it needed charging twice a day.

Jelly Star Phone Price

The price of the Unihertz Jelly Star phone is  $219.99 on its official website. It costs nearly ₹20,945/- in Indian currency before customs duty and shipping charges. Although Unihertz did not launch this phone in India, you can still get it through independent Indian importers. Buyers considering imported smartphones in this range may also compare devices such as the OnePlus 13R and Vivo V29e for better display and battery performance.

Note: Make sure to ask for the final price before confirming your order. If you get this phone as imported, you can’t claim its warranty.

Jelly Star Design and Build Quality

The transparent back side and attractive LED lights make it look different. Here is what you should know:

  • It weighs only 116 grams and does not feel in your pocket at all.
  • LED lights notify users of calls, messages, and music.
  • The quad curved with an 18.7 mm frame makes it perfect to use with a single hand.
  • Side button to customize for quick actions and instant app openings.
  • Obvious plastic design with transparency and attractive finishing.

Note: The Unihertz Jelly Star reviews do not give a strong conclusion on whether to buy or not. Some people mention in their reviews that it is a long-lasting phone. While some add-ports do not work properly or battery swelling issues occur after some time.

Performance and Software

Don’t think that this smartphone compromises on performance. It is powered by the Helio G99 processor and 8 GB RAM. You can use navigation, chatting applications, and UPI apps with a lag-free experience. With 256 GB of storage, you can save your data and important files for backup. People upgrading from older phones like the POCO X3 Pro or Samsung Galaxy A31 will notice a smoother day-to-day experience.

It runs Android 13 and has the latest security updates as of June 2023. Unihertz no longer gives updates; thus, if security updates are your priority, don’t buy this phone.

Display for Everyday Usability

The Unihertz Jelly has a 3-inch LCD screen. With an aspect ratio of 1.78:1, it is enough for text messages but does not fit for other activities. Although 480 X 854 screen resolution is perfect for reading messages, you still need to zoom in on web pages. Watching videos on this phone is of no use. When you type something, the keyboard itself takes up half the screen.

Camera Quality of Jelly Phone

The back camera of the Jelly Star phone is 48 MP. It is perfect for capturing amazing photos in broad daylight. But it lacks detail and actual colours in low-light locations. The 8 MP front camera is good enough for video calls and selfies in daylight.

Although the camera has several modes: Night Mode, Panorama, Photo, Portrait, Pro, Slow Motion, Time Lapse, and Video, people should not buy it for photography.

Battery Power and Charging Time

Unihertz Jelly Star has a 2,000 mAh battery, which can easily last for a full day at light use. You can use it for calling, sending messages, listening to music, and more activities. Its battery lasts till night because the small screen consumes less power.

When I tested its power for live video streaming on wifi, it lasted for around 6 hours and 20 minutes. It takes around 1 and a half hours to charge fully with a 10 Watt charger.

Final Decision: Is Jelly Star Worth Buying?

The Unihertz Jelly Star is an amazing phone for users who need a secondary phone to cut down on screen time. 8GB RAM and the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset give solid performance. Since it runs on Android 13, you can use all the apps. However, you cannot depend on it as a single phone for video streaming, calling, chatting, and playing games.

Buy it if you:

  • Want to reduce screen time without switching to a keypad phone.
  • Battery life for a full day.
  • Wish to have a secondary phone for navigation, calling, and UPI payments.

Skip it if you:

  • Get service or claim warranty in nearby service centers in India.
